Tina Ahuja, daughter of veteran actor Govinda and Sunita Ahuja, recently appeared alongside her mother for an interview, where she shared insights into her personal life and views on menstrual health. Tina, an entrepreneur, made controversial claims about period cramps, suggesting they are a psychological issue more prevalent in metropolitan cities like Mumbai and Delhi, while women in smaller cities rarely experience such discomfort.

Tina Ahuja claims period cramps a psychological issue

In her interview with Hautterfly, Tina remarked, “I have mostly lived in Chandigarh, and I’ve noticed that only girls from Bombay and Delhi talk about cramps. Half the problem arises from being part of circles where these issues are constantly discussed. Sometimes, even those who don’t usually feel cramps start experiencing them psychologically. Women in Punjab and smaller cities don’t even realise when their periods or menopause occur. They hardly feel anything.”

She further attributed the issue of menstrual discomfort to dietary habits. Tina explained, “I have a very desi body. I don’t experience back pain or cramps. But here, I see girls frequently complaining about cramps. It’s about diet—eat ghee, fix your eating habits, give up unnecessary dieting, and sleep well. Things will normalise. Most girls suffer because of their obsession with dieting.”

Tina’s mother, Sunita, supported her views but advised caution, urging people to consult doctors before making dietary changes. She jokingly added, “Don’t blame me later saying, ‘Govinda’s wife, Sunita, suggested eating a spoon of ghee, and it caused heart blockages.’”

During the interview, Tina also reflected on her upbringing and her father Govinda’s influence. She shared how her father was particular about her appearance and weight during her teenage years. Tina’s remarks have sparked discussion, shedding light on generational views and cultural perspectives on health and body image.
